Bio
Aby Henry received her masters from the Oregon College of Art & Craft, and her BA from the University of Nevada, Reno. She graduated with a major in Ceramics and a minor in Art History.
She moved to Portland, Oregon to start her own art/farming business with her sister Jen Henry in 2008. Aby continued her ceramics work at Shop People in SE Portland starting in 2012. She was the head of the ceramics department from 2014-2016.
Aby has been fortunate to participate at the following locations:
Watershed Center for the Ceramic Arts in Newcaste, Maine
Jingdezhen Private Studio in Jingdezhen, China
A Windgate Fellowship to attend Vermont Studio Center in September
Presidential Scholarship to attend Anderson Ranch this summer with Trey Hill.
Medalta in Medicine Hat, Canada
In May, Aby will leave for Italy to be a resident artist at C.R.E.T.A Rome for the month of June. She recently did an interview with Ashley Gifford of Art & About PDX, you can see it HERE.
She calls Portland, Oregon home. She lives there with a plethora of plants and an overabundance of books (if there is such a thing).
